So it's been awhile. Last time I wrote to you guys, it was snowing outside. Now, it's hot and sunny weather. Since mid-March it's been hard to stay focused on school because it's been so beautiful outside. Most of my days consist of going to class then playing tennis or frisbee out by the "lake" on campus. Also in my free time, I've been putting together Guilford Women's basketball post season stuff and we've been having fun playing pick-up and trying to stay in shape.
Most of my time, however, is focusing on finishing up my junior year as successfully as I finished my first semester. At Guilford, you always have something to do in the classroom whether it's a paper or a test, you always have something that has to be done. But, honestly when you work hard and you make a good grade it feels so good to know that your hard work has paid off. I'm on the downhill spiral right now, I 've made my to do list (which is full) and as I finish each task it's one more step towards summer. This summer, I have been accepted into the Cadre program here at Guilford. With the Cadre program, I get to take two summer classes and work at Guilford. Did I mention that I get to go to school for free? Sweet deal, huh? Oh yea, my roommate and I also got accepted for our first apartment so that will be a new adventure you all will be hearing about.
Let's see, from the basketball perspective, we had a disappointing end to our season against Washington & Lee in the conference tournament. We really thought we could beat them, but we had some tough breaks and couldn't catch back up. I left Salem, Virginia saying goodbye to four of the best teammates that I have ever had. They each have become family in my eyes and we have made so many fun memories together. They all will be missed next year. Also, big ups to our men's basketball team who made it back to the NCAA DIII Final Four yet against this year.
In my spare time, I have been working at the softball and baseball games doing the scorebook. Our softball is 29-10-1 and I will put money on the fact that they will be the first team to win a National Championship since the golf team in 2005. They are a really talented group of girls. They have some hard hitters and good group of core pitcher, which make them fun to watch. I would suggest that you come out and watch them play next season because it's only going to get better in the coming years.
I'll keep you posted in the coming months with all the tales of my preparation for my senior year!
God Bless -- Lauren
