I hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July. I did not really do much because the thunderstorm kind of bummed me out. It is getting pretty close to school starting back up again, which is pretty exciting. I have three weeks of Summer School left, and then about three more weeks until I move in and start Resident Advisor training. Classes start a week after that, on the 22nd I believe. The campus has become a little livelier over the past week or two. The Eastern Music Festival is going on, and we are housing a bunch of the performers. There has also been a few basketball team camps going on. The latter brought back some memories of my high school team going to the same kind of camp at NCSU. The campus does have way more people on it than it did a few weeks ago, but it is weird, and not what I am used to. It is usually filled with people I can at least recognize. I was able to eat in the cafeteria a few days ago, which was really good. I always tell the story on tour of how we came to have our wonderful caterer Meriwether Godsey. A few years back Guilford had the same food service provider as the North Carolina prison system. As we can imagine, I have been told it was not very good… at all. The students here were tired of eating the prison food, and did not agree with the business practices of this big company. When the contract expired, Guilford brought in different food service providers for trial periods. We decided on Meriwether Godsey. They are a local catering company that provides tons of local, organic, healthy and delicious food options. I have had lunch or dinner at some other colleges that shall remain nameless, and believe me when I say we have it GREAT! If you check their facebook (linked below) you will see tons of pictures of some of the food, as well as what ingredients are local each week and what to expect on the menu. They respond very well to constructive criticisms from the students, and are always happy to make changes to accommodate student’s wants and needs. Plus the staff is amazing. I know many of them by name, and it is always nice interacting with them. All of this food talk has made me hungry, so I am going to go grab a bite to eat, and you be sure to check out our dining facilities if you are visiting the campus!

Why not try different cuisines for a change? I think you will love authentic Italian dishes.
