Garry Trudeau, Paul Krugman, Anna Deavere Smith and David Gregory will be subscription program speakers in the 2009-10 Bryan Series, which will have a theme of "The American Experience." In addition, Yo-Yo Ma will appear in a bonus program in partnership with Eastern Music Festival.
Trudeau (Oct. 7) is the Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist and creator of the comic strip, Doonesbury. He rarely lectures and is making only three appearances nationally this fall.
Krugman (Nov. 3) is the Nobel Prize-winning economist and op-ed columnist for the New York Times. He was the most popular prospective speaker in our subscriber survey last fall.
Smith (Feb. 28) is the Pulitzer Award- and Tony Award-nominated playwright and actress. She is popularly known for her recurring role on the TV series "The West Wing," which aired from 1999-2006.
Gregory (April 13) is the host of "Meet the Press" and former chief White House correspondent for NBC. He is a leader in the new generation of broadcast journalists.
Ma (Oct. 26) is the world-renowned, Grammy-winning cellist and United Nations Peace Ambassador.

Trudeau's visit will coincide with an exhibit of his work in the Guilford College Art Gallery in Hege Library on campus.
2008-09 subscribers will receive renewal information the week of April 13. New subscription sales begin May 4 and orders may be placed here . Tickets for the Yo-Yo Ma program
will be sold only as part of subscription packages until May 15.
